Long time no blogging mi amigos ! After escaping the clutches of EXAMS I have made my triumphant return into the blogosphere... I AM..... FICTION GURU! Join me as we dive into the Potter-verse to review about its fourth book- The Goblet Of Fire (Ft. Harry potter and co.) BOOK SYNOPSIS Two new Wizarding schools arrive at Hogwarts but for what? To take part in a deadly competition of course! Harry Potter unwillingly finds himself in the middle of the highly anticipated Tri-wizard tournament where the three wizarding schools of Europe send one student each to take part in three difficult challenges where the victor takes home the glory, trophy and bragging rights. At the end of the third challenge two contestants go through freaky-mind control, one contestant dies and Harry see's Voldemort[bald, nose less, bad guy] resurrected. My Views I found it a little cliche when the bad guys had to use Harry's blood to bring back Voldy, plus, post-resurrection Voldemort spen...

Why is it hard to write about vampires? They are a pain in the neck!!!  If you find that one of the funniest or lamest jokes in history- welcome to my blog Fiction Guru where I basically dictate your entertainment. Today let's talk about our favorite vampires and co. in the movie- MY THOUGHTS Compared to it's predecessors, this movie was too cartoony, too dramatic and without a legitimate plot  . Of course it was a funny movie and the end scene where the solution turned out to be Macarena was a real hoot. If you have small children or younger siblings, this is a good movie to take them to but this not something I'd recommend to kids older than 11.I  liked the new villain introduced- Abraham Van-Helsing- a monster hunter and his great-granddaughter Erica the villain turned good, to whom Dracula had taken a liking to. MY RATING Although I sorta-liked the movie I give this m...

What's up muggles, wizards and witches? Its your friendly, neighborhood Fiction Guru! Welcome to my blog where I help you navigate your way through the must-read books and bogus reads out there. Today I am reviewing the third Harry Potter book in the series- 'Prisoner Of Azkaban' MY THOUGHTS Like the previous HP book, this book started with some funny magical mischief which resulted in Harry leaving his relatives home and accidentally summoning the Knight Bus-  a purple, triple Decker bus for transporting magical beings. In this scene we also get a first glance at the supposed 'Grim' who 'haunts' Harry throughout the year. This book is also the first, where we're introduced to the dementors-  terrifying, phantom-like guards of the wizarding prison- Azkaban who were temporarily residing at Hogwarts because a dangerous 'criminal' by the name of Sirius Black was the first wizard to escape from Azkaban! Turned...

What's up muggles, witches, and wizards? This is Fiction Guru- Your best hope at understanding fantasy and mythology[Greek] books through my personal opinions and ratings. you can trust me...I'm a bookworm ;] Without further ado, lets jump right into it! For those who couldn't tell, my first blog piece was about the 'Sorcerer's Stone' so this piece will talk about the second book-'Chamber Of Secrets' In JK Rowling's style the book immediately had a magical start as Dobby the house-elf appeared in Harry's relatives home and got harry into trouble, which led to him being rescued by his best friend in a flying car. In this book, we get the first glimpse of Hogwarts and its past students including Lord Voldemort's teenage self [while he had a nose]   MY THOUGHTS according to me, this book had more magic than adventure, unlike the other Harry Potter books [excluding 'Goblet of Fire'] I personally thought th...

"Review: The philosopher's stone" ...A Sickle For Your Thoughts?

Image
Aloha and welcome to my very first blog- fiction guru, here I will give reviews and recommendations for the books/movies I have read/seen. For starters, lets talk about the magical world of harry potter- 'The philosopher's stone'. For those who don't know- this is a book by J.K Rowling about an orphan boy-Harry potter who, on his eleventh birthday gets a visit from a [half]giant who whisks him away from his horrible relatives and tells Harry that he is a wizard! Now I'm not going to tell you the rest of the story but give my personal views and thoughts on it and at the end will rate the book out of 5 stars with 1 star being 'not that great' and 5 stars meaning 'excellent'. For me, harry potter was a way out of this dreadfully ordinary world and into the bright and colorful world of magic and Hogwarts- a school for witchcraft and wizardry. This HP book contained friendship, adventure, good antagonists and protagonists, etc. thoughts...
