The Ramblings of a Quarantined Teenager
At first, I was thrilled- school was online and all you had to do was occasionally make eye-contact and nod once in a while.
No getting up at the ungodly hour of six a.m anymore.
But now I realize how it's gone so very wrong.
Now, school is just browsing Instagram, a little out of sight, or not even paying attention because "That's ok! I have tuitions!"
Our July assessments are going to be digitalized too, and once I heard that, I couldn't even pretend to seriously study anymore.
I told my mom about it and she just gave me a look and asked what I was going to do about it.
I knew that she knew.
It would be wrong to not take advantage of the situation, was what I told her.
She simply said that doing it once made it easier to do it in the future- when it wouldn't be as easy to do as it is now.
---------------------------
What studying schedule? I'll pick up a textbook sometimes, out of boredom.
The only thing I kinda sorta miss about school...' real' school...Are the people. Humans are social pack animals by nature, for us- social interaction is important for every aspect of our health.
There's a reason isolation is used as torture.
It doesn't mean you need to be the chattiest Cathy or the over-friendly uncle at every family function. It's simply being in the presence of others- their voices and movements surrounding you, and relishing not being in silence.
For at least 5 hours.
The last period and next hour you spend wanting to duct-tape everyone's mouths shut and sleep.
---------------------------
Not having talked to any other human my age (in 3 months) besides my ten-year-old, tik-tok obsessed sister has taken something very precious from me.
Heck knows where my social skills have flown off to.
When the you-know-what ends you'll have to excuse me for acting like an alien trying to (badly) copy a human being.
So you don't like real school, and you don't like online school.
What an interesting dilemma.

P.s- If I hear about another tik-tok dance, I will hurl either myself or my sister out of the window
