"Review: Incredibles 2".....That Rare Feminist Movie With A Cute Baby.

Howdy readers big and small, what are ya'll city-slickers doin' yonder?

And here ends my mind-scarring impersonation of a cow-girl. :P
Anyway, Konnichiwa to whoever's reading this, it is I- Fiction Guru your best hope in understanding the volatile world that is of movies and books.
(P.S more exciting than it sounds.)
Today I finally watched 'Incredibles 2', one of the many animated movies of 2018.
(There were fifty animated movies released last year)

                              plot

This story contains all of our favourite heroes from its prequel including Bob and Helen Parr [Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl respectively] and their three kids-
Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack the baby.
Every one in the family except Jack-Jack had powers.....Or so they thought.

Turned out, Jack-Jack didn't have a power but had seventeen!
Now, where does that feminist part come in? When Elastigirl is given an offer to fight crime to lead a campaign that makes superheroes legal again.
She stopped runaway trains, saved important ambassadors and basically just kicked butt.

Oh but you didn't expect everything to be all rainbows and unicorns did you?
There was an evil masked villain called the screenslaver that gave monologues
on why humans were lazy and used superheroes as scapegoats.
When Elastigirl beat him, turned out it was actually a hypnotised pizza guy!
**Dramatic Gasp**!
Long story short, the villain(ess) was one of the two sponsors for the legalization thing!
**Dramatic Gasp again**!
I don't want to wind it so let's cut the plot till here.

                    My thoughts

You know, this movie pretty accurately sums the changing times and the equalization of both genders- female and male.
When Helen was given that offer in the beginning, her husband was a little petulant that he wasn't considered for the job: This shows that however much we might want our best friend, sister/brother, wife/husband, etc to succeed we feel petty jealousy at not being chosen. We frequently ask ourselves,"Why not me? What does he/she have that I don't?".

Then, when Helen states that because of the kids and taking care of Jack-Jack she can't accept, I instantly thought of the thousands of women out there who have dreams and ambitions but are burdened with  laborious domestic chores.

When Bob pushes Helen to accept the offer, he states that all the jobs of the house including dealing with a sullen teenager, helping his son with homework and taking care of a superpowered baby would be taken care of by him.
This also shows how many people are getting down from their high horses or are fighting superstitions to give girls and women the chance to spread their wings and soar and take over mankind.

Of course, after getting the thumbs-up she is pretty awesome. :-)

                        My ratings
Overall, the movie was good but at the time of the villain-reveal and the slightly tragic backstory, you're like,"Srsly...Is that the reason why the villainess wants to make superheroes illegal? That doesn't really make sense."

I give this movie.....
4 1/2 out of 5.

Okay...I hope you appreciated the super long post, considering I was awake till midnight to get it finished.
Till next time
Ciao, pasta-lavista and toodles.
